Emily Carmichael is a professional trumpet player currently residing in Ontario, Canada. Emily graduated from the Mannes School of Music in May of 2024 with a Professional Studies Diploma where she studied with Brandon Ridenour, Peter Evans, and Mark Gould. While in New York Emily had the pleasure to perform with a wide variety of ensembles including the Symphony of Westchester, the Broadway Training Center, Narrows Community Theatre, the Mannes Orchestra, and the JEMME Brass Quintet for which she is a founding member. Emily also went to the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2024 where she studied with members of the American Brass Quintet including Ray Mase, Brandon Ridenour, John Rojak, and Kevin Cobb. Throughout her time in New York Emily also became an Orchestra St. Luke’s Chamber Music Fellow which allowed her and her brass quintet JEMME to work closely with John Rojak and perform at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music.
Before moving to New York, Emily completed both her Master’s in Music Performance and Literature (University of Western Ontario), and her Bachelor of Music Performance (Wilfrid Laurier University) in Ontario, Canada where she studied with Guy Few, Aaron Hodgson, Steven Woomert, and Shawn Spicer. While living in Canada Emily spent her time teaching and performing across Ontario to share her passion for music with those around her. Emily has performed in a wide variety of groups including; the London Community Orchestra, the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, Mansfield Entertainment’s Pit Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Symphony Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Wind Ensemble, Wilfrid Laurier Pit Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Brass Quinet, Wilfrid Laurier Brass Ensemble, Western University Symphony Orchestra, Western University Brass Quintet, and many others.
As a soloist Emily has had the opportunity to perform the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto with the Western Wind Orchestra as the winner of Western’s Concerto Competition. Emily has also performed as a soloist in Ontario for a variety of events such as Bereavement Ceremonies, Christmas Services, Easter Services, Remembrance Day Services, High School Workshops, and multiple solo recitals.
Emily is an active performer and educator throughout Ontario, Canada, known for her versatile sound and dedication to fostering musical excellence. She continues to perform, collaborate, and inspire through her work as both a performer and as an educator allowing her to bring her passion of music to audiences and students alike.
